Question: How do you draw an anteater?
Answer: Not like that. Not at all like that. Sorry Atroxi!
Not a wide variety of expressions because that's not really what I'm doing right now. Just playing with shapes I don't use all that often. Some of them came out quite nicely, some of them came out quite horrid, but that's the way of things I guess.
Names are for the account that the character came from, not necessarily the character's name.

There's a lot of things really, but I have absolutely no framework for dealing with that sort of thing at the moment. x3
My dilemma with faces in general is that I don't want to draw them realistically. Honestly it would be pretty easy to just learn to draw things accurately... but a lot of what I draw is adult in nature, which means I want things to be as attractive as possible. Using a different species as an example, this just ain't sexy.
So the trick for me is to find a way of humanizing species without losing too much of what makes them look like they do, and sometimes that just doesn't work out very well. x3

If you don't mind me jumping in here, I kinda got curious myself and started looking into this a bit. Your style seems to be sort of chibifying them, where the eyes get bigger, the muzzles tend to get a bit stubbier, the heads get rounder, and it works with things like cats and dogs. But when I browsed around for other anteater pics it seems like what's cute about them is the way their facial features are sort of delicate and graceful with little mouths and eyes.

Just a few I thought were decent. There are a ton of results for anteater on FA and I only went through a few pages of them. :P

I'd say the anteater looks alright. But I guess they are a species one doesn't get to draw all that often ^^
Still, I'd say you did great job on the headshots! Boom! The expressions are really good looking, in my opinion. But I'm just an amateur doodler so my opinion might not be of much value :3

Yours is actually another I'm not terribly happy with. I made the mistake of learning to draw all canines in one sort of all-encompassing generic canine shape, and it can be kind of hard to unlearn that to draw a different looking canid. That, and it just looks silly in general. x3 Just didn't work too well, heh.
Silly looking? But that is part of my character! I love my "enjoying the gentle morning breeze" expression! :P
And if I had to point out some actual criticism, the only thing I can think of is that the rhinarium, or nose, is a bit biggish. But that might be that generic canine influence you spoke of. I'd still say you can rightfully feel proud over it as it looks like my head in my opinion! :)

I almost skipped that one, because monkeys/apes and such kind of fall into the uncanny valley for me. But the small part of me that's trying to be an artist got really loud and complainy and wouldn't shush until I just sucked it up and tried it, so that's what I did.
