Anthropomorphic character do appear in First Nation Oral Traditions, however not in the same way they do their European counterparts. There are distinctions for the kind of spirits that can walk upright- yet are not of this world- and those differ from the animals and plants who never change form, but are believed to speak and communicate as people.
In order to respect the cultural expectation, I decided to hint at the more-human-like appearance of the wolf by giving them a human hand- an obvious sign of the human species that differ from the animal kingdom.
