Unrelated fun-fact- while I was working on this painting at school there was a huge "gang-related" fight at my school and the principal told us "We won't be having gang-bangers at MCHS.", when my art teacher saw this (he actually helped break up the fight, lol) he said something along the lines of "we won't be having no gang bangers in ashley's art at AP Portfolio" or something to that effect.

This world you've created, is it a mixture of technologies and eras? I ask 'cause I noticed the vending machine and one of the clocks are in contrast to the way everyone's dressed, like they've stepped out of the 1920s and 30s, which is neat.
Now, about the coloring, I really like how the eye doesn't settle just on one spot as the picture's observed, the colors and rough lines instead draw the eye 'around' the picture, if that makes any sense.

Thanks! I drew a lot of the details for these old guys from photos of Hong Kong and various Italian cities, with some inspiration from some russian + japanese indie comics tossed in (Taiyo Matsumoto is AMAZING, his environments are so engaging).
These are soooooo old, back then I had an idea of what I wanted to do with these, but they were way too ambitious for my skill level. Someday I might revisit these and make something of 'em, but hah. XD

Well, I understand that things like this can't be forced, as they don't have the same feel when done so, but I really do hope you try your hand at these again.
And I do see the influence for the environment, like nearing a Chinese slum, or an older, more run down part of town.
