I'm not so 100% sure that the black around his armor is flesh, or just some kind of latex, but around his upper lip, the pink, and his jaw - all that red. You get the feeling that he is... not comfortable in his skin, so to speak. This kind of information transforms it from "cyborg" to a very morbid but kinda cool sounding story.
The black at the joints is a durable rubber that is water-tight. No, he is not very comfortable in it. He was pretty much butchered up to be able to function, and the armor keeps his blood from draining out of his body. Ignore below reply; I pressed the wrong button.
