A RCAF F/O in his war service dress, blue/grey version of British army battle dress introduced in 1940, on his right arm you can see the 'CANADA' country badge. His pilot wing and ribbons were covered by his C-2 parachute (lazy, lazy)
His squadron is indicated by the slightly obscured '5V' tail code on his Typhoon Mk.IB.
The Canadian 439 fighter-bomber squadron 'sabre-toothed tiger' took part in the pre-invasion softening-up raids and flew close-support role with No.83 group, 2nd Tactical air force, RAF
