I believe the appropriate phrase here is...serves him right. Chapter after chapter of hedonism, of him doing whatever the hell he wanted, belonging to a monstrous and cruel organization and teaching his Pokemon to be just as cruel and selfish as him...and now he's being punished. Now he's learning there are actual CONSEQUENCES for just letting his Pokemon do whatever the heck they want without thinking of the repercussions. Maybe he'll actually LEARN something from this. I sure hope so.
While I think it's more that his pokemon have been teaching him rather than the other way around, I do agree with you. I think Growlithe is due for the lesson as well. He considers himself the lead pokemon on the team, now he gets to see the price for his messing around yesterday.
I'm hoping Bret catches this guy, but only after taking a real injury during the fight. Growlithe needs to feel what Bret's feeling right now, that he could lose the one that matters most to him. I also hope he catches something else as well, so he can turn THAT over to Team Rocket and keep the Legendary (perhaps secretly).

That was a nice reality check. After his larger pokemon culled the forest so easily, it's nice to see nature is just as easily cruel. I think that would have been a nice end for Buizel's part in the story, but I'm not so sure about the couple. That is unless we're getting to a series finale, then I wouldn't mind seeing an Attack on Titan approach to this character roster. ;D
