Guh, this is something I produced a while ago now and was ultimately a lesson in how to hide your mistakes by shading them to death…
I produced this in a rush (bad idea) and ended up ‘goofing up’ when it came to the inking. Even though its general purpose is as an experiment concerning technique, I still hate it all the same. The characters are out of proportion, the perspective is off, the room doesn’t look how I want it to and there isn’t enough detail… blargh! The lesson learned, therefore, is never to rush the planning and eventual producing of a comic layout… or else it will inevitably look like a sorry dog’s dinner.
This is a scene from 'The String of Pearls', a book that I'm hoping to adapt into a web comic, and happens in the first chapter, when a seafaring man named Thornhill enters Todd’s shop with his dog and casually mentions that he is carrying pearls to deliver to his friend’s sweetheart. Of course, knowing this, Todd isn’t about to let him leave the shop unharmed, and swiftly does away with him.
I'm currently working on Thornhill’s character a bit more… not too happy with the way he looks here. *Sigh* No rest for the wicked.

I don't think it's a bad comic at all! Having made a number of pages myself, I know that the layout is essential, but you've done a pretty good job here, and while a trained eye can pick out some anatomical goofs, they're certainly not damning and don't distract the reader from the story. You've done a better job than most of varying up the composition, spacing things out, and incorporating details to establish setting.
It's practically impossible to create a comic page that is perfect in all respects- hell, it's hard enough to make a single picture that meets or exceeds one's expectations, but to expect seven or eight or ten of them to line up neatly and smile for the camera is asking too much. You've done a good job here- seeing the flaws helps an artist improve, but having a bit of pride in a job well done can be just as important, and this is a job well done.
