Those of you who were as fond of the Disney version of Peter Pan as I was as a kid, should remember Captain Hook capturing Tinkerbell, and imprisoning her in a glass lamp. I always sort of wondered what would have happened if there had been a candle in the lampt at the time. Wax cools and hardens fast, and something like this might have been the result.
I did a version of this a very long time ago, and this sketch only a couple of years ago. Last summer I took a scan of it into Photoshop and did a fast job of subtly colouring the green leaf Tink wore as a dress, her blonde hair, and skin colour under the translucent wax.

Not an unlikely scenario, based on the original version of the story - Peter could be amazingly indifferent at times. Towards the end of the book, after some time has passed, Peter and Wendy meet again, and when Wendy asks how Tinkerbell is Peter asks "Who?" Seems Tink had died a while back and Peter's policy was to never look back. Poor lost, forgotten Tinkerbell... Not very Disneyesque, I'm afraid.
