Here's the back side of the loincloth commission that I just finished. (Here's the front.) It's worn on a belt, and the scales needed enough points of support that they weren't going to sag annoyingly in between the belt loops. So that worked out well.
Figuring out, then producing, then attaching, the leather part took a surprising amount of time. I had designed it hoping that the gaps between the outer pairs of belt loops would accommodate the belt also being threaded through the belt loops on a pair of pants, but it turns out that that distance isn't really standardized on clothing. So it might work on some pants, but not all.
Anyway, I was happy with how I figured this out, so I figured I'd share it.
The scales are aluminum, the rings are stainless steel, the leather is hand-cut (not laser-cut this time! Imagine that!), dyed and sealed with a matte leather finish.
