This is my favorite picture I've ever "taken". It's a go pro still taken from my helmet, looking back at the others in the raft as we come back to the surface at the bottom of husum falls, the first run of the season, 7/2012

We only run this drop commercially at medium/lower water, it's just too big for most of the year. There's always that time of the season where somebody has to be the first to fire it up, and this time it was us. As far as hands off the T grips goes, it's a must for this drop, it's almost impossible to stay in the raft if you aren't hanging on. At this level the raft is guaranteed to submarine about 6 feet under water and come up violently, even with a perfect line.
I know plenty of kayakers who've lost go pros in combat but I've taken mine down all sorts of crazy shit and it still works ok. I'd say go for it, that's really what the camera is for.
