Reflex is our mongoose hero.
The comic book term is "street level". He's not super strong, or even super fast. He can't fly or shoot lasers from his eyes.
What he can do is calculate and extrapolate the trajectory of moving objects and anticipate the outcome. This super-mathematical prowess is natural and he doesn't even know how he does it. He can't explain it, he just reacts.
Added to his mastery of several forms of martial art and it seems as though he has a form of ESP.
From the first twitch of his opponent's muscles, Reflex can mentally sort out every motion and attack that will follow-- essentially seeing the entire fight before the first punch is finished being thrown.
For defence he has metallic bands around his wrists and ankles with allow his to check knives and even deflect bullets!

One day
wolfboy1 said to me "You know what we don't have?...A mongoose!"
And thus he and I set about hammering out the details of his backstory

I liked the haircut Reflex was sporting in that as well as the splash of yellow so we finally arrived at his final design as seen in http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8076620/

Not a nerd. As in the description he does this completely involuntarily in his sub conscious. He doesn't even know that he does it. If you showed him a mathematical problem on paper of the complexity of the formula in the background it would look like gibberish to him. He's kinda like a Savant. He cant explain how he does it..he just does it.
I'm that way with bridge design. They just tell me what they need and somehow my mind just gives them this amazing set of bridge plans without being able to explain how I managed such miracles. That's totally my excuse for wearing tight fitting costumes as well.. just at home.... >.>
His "power" is the ability to subconsciously utilize complex mathematical formulae pertaining to speed, momentum, balance, etc. to anticipate motions.
If you were to toss one of those super bouncy balls you get from vending machines as HARD as you can indoors, he would instantly envision the ball's spastic, ricocheting vector and just instinctive know it's final destination.
He's not a math genius though. He's can't explain what he's doing.

Yeah that really irritated me at first.
I honest;y thought I had come up with a neat new powerset but turns out that Midnighter has something very similar (at least pre-Nu52). I hadn't read The Authority at the time of Reflex's creation.
BUT Reflex's outcome predicting skills are natural and aided by his martial arts training rather than a computer implanted into his brain like Midnighter, so that at different enough that I don't get more pissed off about the unintentional similarity (than I already am )
The fact that Reflex doesn't have superhuman strength or speed OR a healing factor allows me to sleep at night.
