Somebody commissioned me to make them a loincloth of sorts. They had previously gotten a tail from me (last year I think), and they planned on wearing this over a skirt in an outfit along with that.
The thing that was tricky about this commission was making it be able to hang from a belt in a way that looked good. I ended up making a leather piece that the chainmail attaches onto, and the leather has belt loops on the back. It didn't end up working quite as perfectly as I had hoped, but it worked acceptably.
The other funny thing about this piece is that the company that manufactures the scales changed their aluminum scales in the last little while. The tail that this commissioner had gotten earlier was made with (what are now) the old type of aluminum, which is thicker and slightly more lustrous rather than reflective. I had just a little bit left of the older type when they ordered this piece, but it wasn't quite enough to make the whole thing. So if you look closely you might notice that the scales in the middle are the older type, and the scales on the outer and bottom parts are the newer, slightly shinier type.
Yeah, that might only be interesting to me.
Anyway, this is to say that I'm open to trying commissions of different types. I've gotten lots and lots of tail commissions, which are fun, but it's also nice to make different things. Drop me a note if you have ideas you're interested in.
