And here's what I have been working on the last week. The two boxes I got with the new codex release - Centurions in the back and Sternguard at front.
I really like the Centurions, even if their aesthetics seem to be a huge controversy among the fans. They are big, bulky and absolutely brutal in appearance.
The kit was also surprisingly pleasant to work with. Legs and arms required to carefully check the manual to chose the right parts, but once you found those they were easy to assemble.
I chose to equip them all with Gravcannons + Grav Amps and Missile launchers - brutally points-expensive, but the emperor have mercy with anything that is stupid enough to end up in front of them.
And then the new Sternguard. Hngh, I LOVE THOSE GUYS. The old finecast box was... nifty enough. But these? I was blown away. At first, they looked incredibly expensive, money wise. But what you get is nothing short of amazing. So many options, so many beautiful details and an overall high quality. GW has come a long way with what they can do with mere plastic sprues.
Did I mention the options? 2 of each combi weapon (which are rare to come by, so you will find a use for them most likely even if you don't use them for the sternies), one of each regular specialist weapons, a heavy flamer and heavy bolter, mutliple melee weapons and pistols for your sarge... this box is a goldmine of bits.
Definitely going to get another box of these (and probably the Centurions too) at some point.
The loadout I chose for them was two regular bolters (far left and far right), a heavy flamer (second from left), a combi plasma to complement the combi-melta I have from the finecast ones (second from right) and the sergeant with a power sword which he is casually resting his hand on (sadly not that well visible from this angle).
Definitely two great purchases.
Next time I post something WH40k related, it's probably gonna be painted lizard riders command squad, that I gave a preview of earlier.

Haha, will do. Though I'm horribly slow at painting. XP
The next on my to-do list for painting though is my command squad on bikes, converted to ride lizards instead of bikes (as seen earlier in my scraps). So it's probably gonna take a while until these guys will get the paint treatment. :3

Quick link for you. I have all of the models built (including the captain) and the riders are primed and ready for paint. Apothecary is even partially done so far.
Really looking forward to finish these guys!

Well, it could be worse. They could be hanging in it like in a baby carrier *coughDreadknightcough*.
The price is something entirely different though. I agree that it's pretty high, but I figure that's because of a LOT of leftover bits are in the sprues. (They have all possible equipment options for all three models in there)
