The Panavia Tornado is the oldest serving military jet in the RAF to date, commencing operations in 1979. The family consisted of the GR1, GR2, F3, and GR4. The F3s were referred as the Tornado ADV (Air Defence Variant) and were used to intercept Soviet bombers if they strayed into UK airspace. This version was retired in 2012, whilst the GR4 survives to date.

Nice pic! The Germans flew these into our local AFB (Davis Monthan, Tucson Arizona) every year for the gun/bombing competition held at the local Barry Goldwater range. I always enjoyed seeing them fly over. We normally see A10s based here, and F16s out of the local training wing.
