I think the ID version of this much better. I'm posting this version mostly to show that I have been working on backgrounds (and this is what my nature looks like so far) but you usually don't see them because I tend to throw it out in favor of flat/gradient backgrounds. In this case I'm mostly proud of what I've done for the background except that it's far too distracting and I feel it takes away from what is otherwise a really nice dual-focus character composition.

I also want to say that if you feel you suck with backgrounds, don't be afraid to make them and then throw them out; it's not a waste of time, it's just a different form of practice.
