good kennel training can curb that on most dogs. Buddy is destructive if left out but after he was properly kennel trained he actually just goes to his kennel when he's tired now. He has bones to chew on a compfy pillow and feels safe in it (he is scared of thunder so if it storms he goes right to his kennel because "he is safe" there.
If I don't kennel mine at night he's in my bed. Right now he's like stuck at my feet snoozing. My mom jokes if I don't put him in a "stay" that I can't walk around and stop suddenly cause his nose would get stuck right up my butt. He was abused by his first owner, my ex and his boyfriend and the minute I brought him home he refused to be away from me if he didn't have to be.
Neglected and abused dogs will overly attach to their first loving owner and need that distinction of space sometimes. Buddy is my love baby boy and I curl up with him a lot but at night he needs to be in his bed and when I'm doing chores he needs to 'stay' in the livingroom so I can work and not fall over him.

THE THINGS!!! HE MUST HAVE THOSE THINGS!!!
I have a Border Collie, he is a rescue, previously abused and mentally a little off but omg... "ALL THE THINGS THAT MOVE MUST BE HERDED TO MY DESIGNATED AREA BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE THAT DESIGNATED AREA IS AAAHHHHH"
He learned what "I'm not a sheep don't herd me" means.
