I helped out a friend by replacing the piece of cloth with velcro which was the original "belt" on her tail with cotton belt/strap loops. I chose the cotton loops over elastic due to the tail size and weight. The tail also has an internal "spine", though due to its looseness it tends to twist the tail aound. I didnt want to touch it though since its not a big issue.

The Loops are placed towards the edge of the tail opening so that it can accommodate any size belt loops - I have a pair of shorts with extra wide loops. When worn the tail's loops actually space out, but when held they look closer together (see other pictures).

I also removed the stuffing and fluffed it to remove the lumps - which consists of tearing the poly fill into tiny pieces by hand. And gave her a thurough brushing and wipe down. I didnt wash the tail because I wasn't sure about the fur fabric and what it could handle since Im not the original maker. So instead I wiped it down with non scented baby wipes.
