Living on volcanoes has it's benefits. The marvelous views and often fertile soil to go with it. Another thing good to have is a place to go when the volcano decides to erupt. Which is what the people of this town found on the large rock-peak towards the top of the picture. Luckily enough, no lives were lost while the town was pretty much destroyed.

You can still see much of the lava rock on the downslope. It was quite a sight to behold and imagine how it all happened. Later the town was rebuilt atop the ruins and seems none the worse for wear.
