Another Stagg story illo. I particularly liked how the shading came out on this one.

Karno illustrated the start of a sequence where the narrator (Detective Sergeant Brush) is describing the act of the Circus Bock. Bock's character is The Prince of Lies, and at the very moment of the illustration, he is assuring the audience that everything they will see that night is a complete lie.
I thought Karno captured the quasi-demonic nature of the character very nicely.
