Not sure where you're from, but AFAIK they're pretty common all along the east coast. I have seen them in pretty much every state that I have been to the beach in. I haven't been to all of them obviously, but I have seen them when in Florida, North Carolina, Maryland, even as far north as Cape Cod (Massachusetts). Just go to the ocean and keep an eye open, if you spend enough time there eventually you'll see them
