So I get dirty sometimes. I can't help it if there are so many fascinating smells out there and I just want to roll in them, to save them for later! But my human has other ideas...
She doesn't give me a bath like a normal human would, of course not! She stands back with a bucket of ICE COLD WATER and tosses it at me when I'm not looking. She then runs away, giggling gleefully as I let out a yelp that echoes throughout the neighborhood! She doesn't do this to be cruel, really, it's just that she really doesn't like some of the smells I come home with and want to stay as far away from them as possible. As for the cold, she CLAIMS it gets the smells out better, but I'm not sure I believe her.
New shading style this time! Went for harder edges, more defined shading with more contrast. I kinda messed up the light source, so some shadows and highlights are at odd angles, but I think it looks fantastic, and it's not that much work! I just need to get used to putting like fifty layers in a project.
I'm particularly proud of the water, I just set the layer to 75% opacity and applied a blur filter to the layers underneath it, using the opacity channel of the water splash as a mask. Worked like a charm!
Also I'm REALLY digging how my hair turned out in this one! Not literally digging though, that would get me all dirty and then I'd need another bath!
I hate that bucket.
Edit: Because I'm never happy with how my work turns out, I went back, tweaked my muzzle a bit (it was too narrow) and resubmitted. Not that noticeable, but it was really bothering me.

I hope there's soap involved, nothing's worse than the smell of wet fur, hehe.
Nice work on the new style of shading. I think you'll like cel shading. It's far less of a pain than color blending, and can really convey dramatic lighting and shadows almost with the same intensity. Keep experimenting with light sources and such, you'll get it down in no time. :>
Also, out of curiosity, what program are you using to digitally color your drawings?

I'm glad you like the cel shading, seeing some of your work actually gave me the nudge to try it!
I use FireAlpaca for everything, from initial sketch to finished product. I have an old Wacom Graphire tablet, which works fairly well for my needs. I'd love to upgrade but for now it's more than enough!
I like FireAlpaca, it has a nice, clean interface, and it's easier to use than GIMP. It's also free, which is very nice!
