This page... I'm not sure I can come up with something to say here, not sure it's obvious what's happening or isn't... I think what I like the most is Raphael's reaction at the end, it's what I used to spend HOURS thinking about as a teenage jRPG-nut. I thought I was being smart, but now as an adult I think I really was just being silly.... WHATEVER!

I have no clue, and this is just it. As a teen, I felt SMART noticing this, but as an adult I think it's pointless. Authors have to try and keep a logic with things or else the audience stops taking it all seriously, but focusing on making everything realistic is a pretty wasted cause in the long run.
I recall one guy being angry that when a fire spell is used on a character in Final Fantasy X, the outfit doesn't turn dark or anything. He claimed that that annoys him and he would MUCH PREFER the game, if clothes turned dirty and characters would have to do their laundry.... and I hope I don't have to explain why that's a dumb idea and why I've so far never seen a single RPG do that!

Yeah, because it requires a lot of time and effort, to give you something that no person will consider the game better for! Would you ever hear a review saying:
"Well, the story and the battle system were horrible, but the gameplay mechanic of forcing me to interrupt my gameplay so that I have to wash my shirt every 2 hours was really FUN! 8/10!"

But actually if you think about it water would be powerful against rock due to erosion. Any rock magic would simply crumble with a torrent of water. Of course it depends again on how much water is thrown at them. But if you really think about it, electric magic should be very effective against nature magic. Lightning can cause grass and trees to light up with fire whenever it hits them. And then ramble, ramble, ramble....
