yeah I only recently paid off my house enough to get the island. I like to wind down at night before bed with this game, as much as I love fishing the repetitive nature of it does put me to sleep X3

Why? They can get out and get lost like any dog can, and a collar is the best method of identification still, especially since most people don't even bother scanning for microchips. It's one of the best ways to ensure you'll be reunited if your indoor pet (and cats should most definitely be indoor, since roaming cats are considered pests and damage the environment) in the chance that they get out the door or get picked up by a stranger. They're also the number one cause of death for songbirds in the wild (since cats are not a native predator, and often kill even when not hungry). A bell collar gives most birds/squirrels/other wildlife a warning.
It does not hurt the cat. It does not inhibit their movement (much as they'd like you to think it does, on both accounts). The most harm that could come by a collar is it getting stuck on something, which could happen with any dog as well. However even in this case, there are "breakaway" collars that will snap apart if pulled firmly, so that's typically not an issue. We don't think it's wrong to put collars on dogs. Why are cats any different?

They typically go a lot further than you think. ;) Cats don't know what boundaries or property lines are, nor would they care if they did. And I'm sure they wouldn't go so far as to "kill" anyone trying to put on a collar. Whine and cry and carry on like it's killing them, just to get you to take it off (if they haven't tried to themselves)? Yes. :P
