Anyone who played Red and Blue when it first came out remembers this moment. You first read rumors of it in the Silph Co building- they were contracted to construct the perfect pokeball, one reinforced to absurd levels. You've been through the destroyed lab, mysteriously and suddenly destroyed and abandoned, and in the surviving records found a name...mew. The first pokemon. You've met the surviving scientists who escaped, and had firsthand experience of their work, reviving extinct pokemon. And they mention their catastrophic attempt to clone a legend. You've faced down the strongest trainers in the world, and fought to the bottom of the mysterious dungeon. And now you're face to face with it. Mewtwo. Its real. And you're going to be the one to catch it. This is the mental picture I always get when I think about that moment. Mewtwo's puzzled curiousity at the strange ball you've thrown to it, a comprehension of its purpose, and a calm elimination of the annoyance. Followed by your entire party of pokemon. Hope you brought revives. You're gonna need them.
