This is an Engineer's "Red Shirt." The security people are the ones who die. Scotty and the other technical personnel are necessary and therefore are safe from the infamous curse that befalls those who don this color.
I've worn a red shirt similar to this on a LONG plane trip cross the oceans (both ways) to and from Hawai'i, so being I didn't have any accident or other issues, I can state for the record there is no problem wearing red shirts as long as you are a technical and not security person.

I am so glad that I have never flown. Doubly so that I've never flown with you in a Star Trek uniform. At some point during the flight I would have had to have done something, ESPECIALLY if the pilot gave me the opportunity through announcing some such thing to look at outside the plane:
"Wonderful, a BOLD NEW horizon to explore!
Scotty! *point to random person*
Bones! *point to snother random person*
And uuuuuuuh...... you!
*point at you*
Prepare to beam down to the surface!"
*head to the bathroom*

I couldn't actually afford it until I was classified as morbidly obese and/or having had failed at weight loss programs, as well as having risk factors in two or more categories such as over 50 years of age and diabetic, all of which applied to me - the obesity only just marginally due to my official height of 5'10" and weight of 285# making for a Body Mass Index (BMI) of exactly 40, which crosses the line into "Morbidly Obese."
This all green-lighted Medicare to cover the $85k (iirc) in expenses for the gastric bypass. I had to submit myself to qualification, training, pre-op dieting, post-op dieting, counseling before and after, and a regimen of diet, exercise, and various "Bariatric Nutrition" supplement consumption (lifetime subscription, basically).
I no longer can tolerate (in that it causes digestive upset) sugars, starches, breads, pastas, sweets, sodas, carbonation, fats, lactose - so cheese, milk, ice cream, yoghurt, sour cream, etc., just don't do well. I'll get anything from gas/bloating/cramps/farts to the runs.
It is a "clockwork orange" sort of setup, where the bad foods that used to make me fat now give me distress. The good foods - vegetables, poultry, fish, seafood, lean meats, will digest just fine. As long as they're broiled, baked, and not breaded or fried.
My stomach is so small, portions sort of have to be like a child's plate (1.5 to 4 oz meat, e.g.) so I seldom order meal plates at restaurants; usually, just appetizers which often are too filling still.
