The Phytogast has grown mature, its small, fragile frame has slowly become more and more bulky, eventually to the point where the stem is now more like a trunk. The roots have become fully developed, and no longer forces the phytogast to pick an acceptable environment for it to cohabitate with. The roots have grown and spread, much to the same as the 'trunk'. During its maturation stage, the trunk had split off at 4 locations, resembling arms and legs. Due to its size, and lack of complete maturity, its unable to sustain its own weight on just 2 points, so it keeps itself balance by moving with its 4 large arms/legs.
The mature phytogast, often called "the Land Mule", moves from location to location, often at a snail's crawl. The distance one mature phytogast can travel, can easily be dwarfed by a human running at a moderate pace. Definately not an animal of speed, though, with its massive size, it has nothing to worry about in terms of predaters, except by woodsman, or larger, herbivore creatures.
At this stage, the phytogast's bell flower has opened up, producing a beautiful flower, gaining a secondary colour to its pattern, usually subject to change by its breed, or environmental effects (high copper in the environment produces more earthy toned flowers, phosphorus produces brighter colours, or bioluminessence, etc etc).
Telling the difference between a living phytogast and dead one is very difficult. Not even the noises it produces are key enough clues to its state of being. About the only way to tell the difference between the two is a slightly dull colour to the bark, the flower is dried up and dead, or the flower is completely gone (the flower is often a key tell tale sign of its health or well being).
A phytogast flower petal is often sought after for magick due to its close tie to the creatures life. Despite its size, the main source of its energy is the sun, which is why it has grown so tall to stand above most of the forests, and the flower has developed so prominantly, to have more coverage to absorb more sunlight. If a phytogast really enjoys the environment it is in, it will root itself for some time, or maybe even permenantly stay in this place, till it dies.
Often a times, while traveling, people will camp underneath a mature phytogast as it makes for great cover from rain due to its size. Though, this is highly not recommended due to its size and weight, even a phytogast is able to stumble or fall due to difficult terrain, or loss of footing. Due to the difficulty in determining the difference between a live or dead phytogast, people could make camp under a mature, with thoughts of it being alive. But in fact, the creaking and groaning sounds of the wood above them is not infact, the sounds of it moving, but the sounds of the fibrous strands in its bark slowly breaking down and decomposing from the multiple forms of fungi and moss growing across its bark. It has been reported that several campers have been crushed underneath a dead phytogast that collapsed under its own weight, due to decomposition.
The phytogast is a very passive creature, often found just walking the fields and forests, though, despite its passive nature, it is not uncommon for it to crush things under its large, slow moving roots/trunks during its walks. The mature phytogast cane range from anything as 8 metres tall to well over 20. It never weighs under 1 ton. The scent of its flower can be carried on a strong enough wind, for as far as up to a mile away.
The phytogast people~ I love these things so much. Not bad for a weird little growth of a plant when it first starts out >w<

the yellow splotches on it are another form of moss growing ontop of the green moss (moss-ception!)
I cannot begin to expression the joy I will have once I get around to doing the Alpha Phytogast.
as usual, basic colouring for the phytogast, as a way to reduce confusion between different breeds of the creature. The Alpha adoptables will be the only ones to have full colouring, shading, lighting, and textures (though attempted) to be put in.
