Finally got around to adding some animation to my icon. Hope it hasn't made it look too tacky. I wanted to add some very very slight movement to the rest of him to match the movement of the tail, but I don't really know how! Does anyone know if there's a guide to adding slight anti-alias style shifts to something so that it seems more lifelike?

Oh... does anyone know why the preview turns gigantic and fills the background in with black? ._. I did set the transparency threshold to 0... might that have done it?

Very cute. You seem to have about 8 frames of animation. To add a little more movement, I might suggest that you lower his head on the 4th frame, keep it lowered for frames 5 through 7, then raise it again on the 8th frame. Also, on the 4th frame, you could open his mouth 1 pixel, or add a tongue hanging out. That way it looks like he's panting happily.

Thanks for the advice, but I happen to like it how it is. :) Also, I've found that 1-10 frame movements are cheesy and annoying unless the entire body moves with them. I don't wanna animate it THAT much because then it's distracting. :P

It's alright, I just suggested the changes because in your description you were asking for advise on adding a little more motion to it. If your interested, I took it home with me and worked on it a little to demonstrate what I was talking about. IF you want I can send you a note with a link to it to show you what I mean.
Privacy is really important to me, so if everthing I've done is not okay with you LET MO KNOW and I'll delete everything as soon as I can. I also won't post the animation on any image hosting site until I get your okay.

Nah, I don't care. ._. That's awesome, post away! Thank you. :) I'm veeeery relaxed about people using my art or whatever. I've been considering doing a picture and having a contest for people to copy/use/steal it etc. :P

Alright here goes, last time I tried to post a link in a reply it didn't work. I'll try posting both a link and an image, that way you can still look up the url if the link decides to be a pain in the butt. Sorry ahead of time, but the gif's background isn't transparent. That's neat. I still prefer mine though. ^_^; The movement is far too jagged and I like crisp pixelart. Anti-aliasing things would make it look weird and cheap. If I was going to add any motion, I'd probably have him, every few moments, smile and dance back and forth in place. :)

Yeah I don't know why the motion slowed down in the transparent version. The opaque version was much quicker. I don't like anti-aliasing either. None of my digital art is anti-aliased.

Hurray! :D Fennecs are <3, but be mindful, they're a lot of trouble to take care of in a domestic setting. They're as or more energetic than ferrets, and require five times as much attention and dietary/living space maintenance! (They dig and tear things up a lot, too!)
