Here's a shot of my most recent scale dragon tail being worn. I enjoyed the patterning on this one, though it's hard to get a photo showing all of it. Dang cylindrical surfaces. Oh well. Quick photo shoot before shipping it out.
This one is all in anodized aluminum. Primarily black, with some yellow/gold and a bit of blue. Linking the scales together are stainless steel rings.

It's not really stuffed, but sort of. Every couple of rows as I build upwards I weave in a sheet of interconnections linking across and spanning all the rings in that row. This prevents it from being able to fold and collapse on itself fully, so on the whole it keeps the tail circular. But it's completely flexible, which it wouldn't be if it was stuffed.
