After handing the case file over for Vesara to look at, War Wolf looked to the center of the room, where Spectra was showing Miracle a few new moves with her steelight staff. The two of them were giggling and chatting as they lightly sparred, and War Wolf couldn't help but think how different being a hero in Colmaton was from Grant City.

There were things she hated about being in a new place: unfamiliar parts of the city, more villains to deal with, the balancing act with the BOS, and most of all, being so far from her family's resting place.

But there were some things that turned out to be beneficial. Getting used to being in a city with other heroes was difficult enough, let alone learning to work with some of them, and War Wolf had originally thought it an obstacle. But as she saw Miracle smiling and sparring, and took note of Vesara's serious look as she read, she realized how unlikely it was that two trusted allies should be here in this safehouse, one of many in Colmaton, that she had provided as a sanctuary of sorts. And they weren't the only ones in Colmaton that War Wolf would trust to watch her back in the field.

There was a cold comfort in Grant City at being the only two heroes. But, War Wolf had to admit, there was an even greater comfort in being able to carefully mete out her trust and see that it was well spent.

"So when do we nail this scumbag?" Vesara asked bluntly as she tossed the file onto the desk. Spectra and Miracle looked toward her eagerly.

War Wolf couldn't suppress a little grin.
