ARGH. FINALLY FINISHED THIS.
I started this around Feb 9th 2008 to commemorate my 5th anniversary of seeing Moulin Rouge...it changed my life.
Dreamaria, in the red room. The actual piece is 11 x 14 and my scanner quite obviously isn't that large. I tried scanning it in several parts and was not satisfied with how it looked...so I scanned the center. The persian rug there at the bottom extends to the end of the page and is actually quite detailed, but it almost looks better cropped because I think the light blue took away from the red room aspect anyway :/ Also scanned a bit grainy...fixed it up a bit in photoshop, but is obviously much less grainy in person. That's what scanned at 600 DPI does, I guess :P
Picture & pose is inspired by this photograph of beautiful & amazing Nicole Kidman as Satine - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....eamaria/02.jpg Obviously not an exact ref as far as the background goes. I just took the idea and ran with it.
Colored pencils, micron, and Prisma paint markers for the gold & silver on 11 x 14 Bristol board.
Will be opening up for commissions for things like this sometime this week!

Wow dreamie you really out did yourself with this. The complexity of this is really amazing next to the work you were doing only a year ago. I love how full realized the background is, and how delicately you put all the details in her costume. This really shows improvement hun.
I am beyond in love with this because there is absolutely nothing better than a beautiful mare and the Moulin Rouge. Gorgeous work, darling! The positioning is spot-on and the colors are extremely attractive in their rich vibrance. Definitely take Miss Huskie up on the offer to get a re-scan so that we may appreciate the whole of your awesome.
