[07/15/2024] Second pic of mine to accumulate 5000 views
[07/04/2022]: Hey, my second submission to hit 4000 views.
[10/11/2020]: Number Two in the 'over 3000 views club'
[12/14/2018]: Hey, my first submission to hit 2000 views.
tl;dr version: Nei'chelle discovers the pleasures of mudlarking. This comic was done without dialogue as an attempt to convey a story with just expressions and body language. For that reason, I invite potential commenters to speculate on what's going on, to see how well I did.

Long version/ intro:
I came up with the idea for this comic about three years ago when I ran across Taral Wayne's (
saara) picture folder at the "Furry WAM" Yahoo! group around about December 2004. Among the pictures he had posted there was one entitled "Skinny Dippin" showing a skunkette emerging from a bog, covered in thick mud from the chest down. (This pic is due to be posted to wamserver.com where I can link to it for folks not posessing Yahoo! accounts with Furry WAM membership). What I found interesting was the way the character's tail was not weighed down in the least by the heavy coat of mud covering it. Of course this is artistic license, but it got me to thinking.
Nei'chelle, is all for sensuality, and being a full-time barefooter (and nudist), finds mud underfoot to be just another one of those pleasures. She might even "go deep" were it not for her concern about her big floofy tail. As far as she knows, getting it muddy would render it all wilted and matted down until she could undertake a laborious clean-up. You see where this is leading yet? Along comes someone to teach her the concept of artistic license, and allow her to fully explore her curiousity in the bog that lay before her at minimal cosmetic harm. And that "someone" is Taral's as-yet unnamed skunkette character, (actually a combination of them) one of a number of one-off characters appearing both at Furry WAM and his gallery at https://www.wamserver.com
I didn't announce this project on my commission info page since it was contingent on two things--one, getting permission to use TW's character/s, and two, my being able to draw his character/s in his style (or at least closely resembling it). That you see this comic here is an indication of success on both counts :)
Now I've drawn other folks' characters before (and I should probably do more of that) but I've had to design my interpretation of them from the ground up since the character owners (in most cases, not all) were beginner artists. This is the first time I didn't have to do that, but instead mimic another artist's drawing style, the idea being to present the appearance of a collaboration with two different styles of character interacting.
The character I used is actually a composite of a number of Taral's skunkettes, since as posted, they are nameless one-off characters unrelated to one another. The ones I used appear in "Skinny Dippin'" (link available soon), "Scout Leader and Scouting Ahead, with a bias toward the latter two. Ironically, by the end of this comic, my Nei'chelle starts to take on the style of yet another artist who has no involvement in this comic. I'll discuss who that may be later.

*gives a little moan in response to seeing this*
I always was wondering if someone was gonna put one of Taral's characters into a muddy comic. I'm very glad it was you!
It's rare to see you draw pics of people going deeper than knee deep but when those gems come through theyre shining :D.
Looove the detail of the muck, and how well you redrew taral's characters. LOVE IT!! XD

Thanks! I was a little apprehensive at first, as I didn't even try to see if I could draw her correctly until I got the OK to use the design, but after the first couple of pages, I found I could draw her faster than my own Nei'chelle. Just a difference in the complexity of the two characters (although I did add a little more detail to the eyes in my version)
Your muddy works have always floored me RR, and once again you do not disappoint. I'm very impressed by the amount of storyline you've managed to portray without words. In this one especially, I enjoy how bored Taral's skunk looks to be mudding on her own, then visibly brightens at the sight of Nei'chelle.
Actually she was concentrating on her own sinkage. Being that she's a composite of skunk characters Taral has depicted in quicksand/ bogs before, it is assumed that she already knows what to expect...
..except for someone being there to accompany her, so you're half right :)

I'm not a huge mud fan, but I definitely enjoy it when artists like you and Taral draw it. (Meaning that you could draw tooth-brushing porn and I'd probly still like it since I enjoy your art style and characters so much.) Seeing your world and his colliding like this is a heckuva treat! :)
