I've been down in the dumps lately, due to no work, and no money, so it's just been hard to get motivated to draw, or write anything. I've got one friend wanting my help in a novel of his, and another who's been trying to get all of us to join up on his "Sketch Thursday" blog. Out of some quiet desperation I started doodling earlier today, and figured this should make a decent late post to keep him quiet. (especially since he's my roommate.)
Somehow, Darkwing Duck appearred in the drawing which is interesting-- it was one of my favorite cartoons back in the day. (BTW, anyone remember an awesome cartoon back in the early 80's called Kidd Video?) Oh, and Templeton is my cat... Who was sleeping by my side while I was drawing this. :)
blah blah blah-- goodnight. *snore*

Ice cream gives me gas. :P
LOL, I could have drawn them better, but I need a mirror for that... and patience. ;)
(secret Rindimo trivia: The sword is called "immutable," but it is misleading! It has a secret switch that releases the outside part-- which slides along the middle-- almost doubling the sword's length/reach!)

You mean in Darkwing Duck? (Morganna!) Or in the Sketch? Right now, it's just a nameless, random catgirl I drew. I draw a lot of them, actually. Heh, if everyone's showing so much interest in her, I guess I might just draw that particular one more often! (and come up with a name!)
Oh yeah, I wonder how that sword would work in real life. Probably as well as a gunblade, LOL! (Funny thing, I have seen real, medieval gun-blades in museums, mostly halberds/polearms that worked as rifles... must be a reason they never became widely used, though).
The closest thing would be the Zwiehander... a sword up to 8 feet long. Strangely enough, they never weighed more than around 12/18 pounds. The Japanese made heavier, ceremonial (for the most part) swords called Nodachi, but they were still produced at the same level as a regular Katana. The legend goes that they were designed to cut through a rider and his horse, but hardly anyone was big and strong enough to do it!
Oh, I got a special folder filled with pics of awesome gun hybrids, and stuff like that. For the most part, flintlocks were finicky, and were the reason for the phrase "Flash in the pan." I think for the most part, the powder in the pan probably fell out from all the movement a sword at the hip, or the end of a halberd can contribute. It's a shame, though, because they look Bad. Ass. :)

Hmm, I think the nodachi was used in battle, but pretty much as a spear, putting the handle in the ground and using the enemy's momentum against him. Friend told me, he's knowledgable about japanese weapons. Of course, in anime, people are wielding such swords in one hand...
Europe has lots of history museums full with such odd guns, some only produced once. I like stuff like the "pepper pot" - basically a one-shot 'burgler-keepaway' where you did not have to aim that well, as the gun fired like 6 bullets at the same time.
And yeah, the flintlock guns were pretty hard to use already, let alone if the whole thing was in a melee weapon, where it could be damaged. But it'd look cool, and could be done with energy weapons, I guess. I have a fan-character I am using in the X-Men universe, who looks like an anthro hyena, and he uses a halberd that doubles as a plasma rifle... kinda because well, halberds used to be the favored weapons of gnolls in D&D, whom he resembles.
