I am always either not in the right place at the right time, or the lightning, rain, and wind is so bad, that I don't dare go out in it, let alone with my camera. As I live on the side of a mountain, storms can be very dangerous. Lightning and wind are a lot worse. Falling trees are a constant danger. Lightning is a lot more intense on my mountain. There seems to be a lot of geo magnetic disturbance (from iron ore I am told) on my mountain. I have witnessed ball lightning no more than 5' away from me. Even if I manage to get over the fear of being zapped (which I didn't have as a kid), the fear of losing my equipment due to water damage is great. I have no wish to be holding an umbrella in a lightning storm. So my hats off to you for getting such a cool shot. maybe I will luck out and get one sometime.
