I think it came out rather well considering I had to take it though glass and freehanded.

Oh yes. If you know anything about Canon Digital SLR cameras, they are one of the top rated. It helps when I'm just starting this hobbie too.
That and the sigma lenses I have are rather good lenses.

I've always found barn owls to be somewhat disturbing-this picture is no exception; However-the angle in which you've captured it is not only amazing, but he rather appears to be smiling in some odd barn owlish manner.

Its the shape of their heads, and the way the beak kinda makes it look like there's a gaping hole in the bird's face...the slanted, closed eyes also add to the creepiness.

That, and i think it's more of a childhood scare-part of the movie Milo and Otis...

Don't worry about it dude. You're not weird. They do have an odd shaped face that can leave one wondering if it got lost in some vortex.

I can't say I understand as I've never seen Mil and Otis. I think I'll check it out. I'm curious now.

Hah...it's a children's movie about a cat and a dog-but i think during that particular portion of the movie they forgot-because the casting on the owl was, to a 4 year old, rather horrifying.
