This is way too complete for a "redline". Maybe "redraw" is a much better word.
Anyway, this is a remix of
furious's wolf hunter guy that got rejected by his workmates. When he said that he knew from the start that his workmates can't appreciate on a personal level, that's what got me started on (at least) trying to help him. Like make this a suggestion as an example-by-peer, and teach him a little on conceptual stuff.
So after one previous attempt that passed a completely different criteria altogether, i finally made one that looks more tribal-ish than cro-magnon Monster Hunter-y.
- The base of the idea is pretty simple just by looking at it. It's pretty much a mishmash of what looks like ancient greek and south american armor with a few touches of pacific/southeast asian elements, finished with fantasy elements. Initially i was going for a more realistic look (absent-mindedly), but that just left me frustrated as hell, so i was like YEAH YOU WANT SOME OF THIS, MUFUCKA?! and just gave him a crystalline double-spear.
- Next was the detailing. It's mostly s. american/pacific/southeast asian, except maybe the helmet, which was a mesh of greek and s. american.
Now the fun part.
- See those cheek flaps on the helmet? It's got small pockets underneath it. You can put small objects in there, but try not to smash your face against it... The helmet's also got a pair of this long, branching, sheet-like things, so that it covers the back from most weather conditions, or help the user with camouflage.
- The shoulderpads are more than just ornate. Those stitchings there that resemble the comet -- as both sides of the pads have similar drawings -- can be used as tough little rings to loop things with, like objects from the jungle for added camouflage value. The pads also have 1 large pocket each, for larger objects to put in. In this guy's case, it's a foldable bow on one side, and a fletching kit on the other.
- The codpiece is large... I know. That's why i put in some flexible rubber-like substances on the joint, so when you sit down, the codpiece won't make a hole on the ground.
- More pockets! Apart from the 2 obvious pockets that look like it can store knives in there, there's one more larger pocket that's on the lower back. If you can just see it there, they're bound by the second set of restraining bones. Kinda like a fanny pack.
- He's got a backpack on him, but you can't see it. It's first covered by a pair of strong scapulas shaved down to proper size from some creature, both with small, curved handles, one on the top and one at the bottom, so it can open overhand or underhand. Next, the backpack has strong but also removable clips for the not-so-limber, or when you don't have time to completely take it off.
That about sums it up for this submission. But remember that when making a concept, think practical while applying enough research in order for it to blend in as best as possible. Just hope that you don't take as long as i did when i did this -- 3 days.
