I had this truck for a while till I ended up loosing it to our wonderful economy, I put a lot of money into it.

Well the first thing that happened was a defect from the factory about the fuel gauge float in the rear tank, it would get hung up when you fill it full, then all the sudden it would drop quickly when you would hit a bump that in turn would make the computer go spastic and throw my fuel gauge to empty .... the computer controlled the flow of fuel from the rear tank via a transfer pump, there was no fuel line from the rear tank to the engine, when the computer did that I had to go to a Chevy garage and get them to clear that code.... well it could go for a couple days before doing it or, I made a trip out to Evensville Indiana from Pittsburgh, I had the truck in 6 different Chevy garages for that trip, so in turn, the company I was leased on with could not give me loads because they didn't know if it would get there on time, thus, I ended up filing a lemon law on the truck for the fuel problem and it was blowing oil out the FRESH air side of the turbo & the rear main seal ..... keep in mind, this truck only had 13,000 miles on it when I parked it and told the bank to come get it.... the Chevy garage put silicon sealer on all the air ducts from the fresh side of the turbo so it would not leak any more *face paw* so now what happens when the intercooler fills with oil ? That's about it in a nutshell. I loved the truck, the engine would pull great, it was a quiet diesel and WOW the Allison transmission that was in it was bullet proof, that was the most outstanding part of the entire truck ... so, that's it. *hugs Kalak*. Or a Monday after a big weekend ! I dropped a shit ton of money in that truck to stretch the frame for the sleeper which was done by (I think) double eagle or something like that, up in Shipshewana (spelling) IN, the aluminum bed was another $6K, the trailer I had custom built in Texas, the company I was leased to had a contract with PODS and that's why I got a 45 foot trailer ... about a week before I was to go and get my trailer, the lost the damn contract... so about all I could haul was the big fiberglass tanks for gas stations and truck stops that they put underground .... *shrugs* I gave it a go and it just din't work. I guess it was just time for this ole dawg to retire from the road, now I just haul a car ever once in a while behind my Dodge diesel pickup. *hugs Kalak*. SB.
Really nice rig, sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. I love that sleeper! Do you have any additional pics? I would like to see more if you have them! Stretched frame looks awesome! Things just aren't built like they used to be and this is proof positive that what you get today new isn't nearly as good as what you could get 20 years ago. I know a few people who run freight and rather than buy or lease a newer truck, they buy a mid to late 80s model at auction for cheap, spend half as much as a new truck refreshing it and put it back on the road. Older body style but for all intents and purposes a new truck. I am told using this method makes for a rig that is easier to fix, easier to find parts and cheaper to run; Especially in Canada. I helped out my boddy a when one of the drivers was sick last year and took an 87 Peterbuilt 3xx series after it has been refreshed to New Brunswick. It drove like a new truck! It is amazing what a good refurbishing will do. Hope your Dodge is good to you. Those cummins are bulletproof!
*waves paw in the air to you* Hai, Wagg's yeah I have a ton of pics that I took, got some at the dealer when it was just cab & chassis and through the entire process. The Dodge is running like a well oiled sewing machine, it has 347 K miles on it ... but unfortunately with the price of diesel here ($4.39 a gallon) I don't run it too much, actually thinking of selling it and my car trailer. Note me to see about sending more pics. *hugs Wagg's*. SB.
