Here's another character from the story/novel I'm writing; same one as the last upload here. This is Chief Running Stream, an American Badger. She is the chief of a desert tribe, standing in the desert in a cold windy winter day. She is generally a gentle motherly type, but is not afraid to lay down the law and put people in their place; she's the chief and will demand respect. She is relied on to make important decisions and is looked to for advice and guidance. As well as being a great diplomat she is also a great leader to the warriors in times of war.
I'm really happy with this came out and I wanted there to be a good portrayal of an Indian chief on FA. This group of people in my story is not exactly Indian like the us of the real world, but based strongly on the existing culture. I wanted to show a chief that didn't have the massive headdress/war bonnet. She also does not have eagle feathers which is another such stereotype, rather hawk feathers. which are used in some Southwestern Indian tribes. I see a lot of drawings people do of "chiefs" (a lot of them wolves funny enough), that only serve the purpose of looking mystical, exotic, and sometimes sexualized, but most importantly do nothing to show what a chief really is, and what their wonderful qualities are.
It also seems to come as a surprise to people that there would be female chiefs, despite the fact that there were many both in the past and in today's day. The design is actually semi-based on a chief I had the pleasure of meeting recently. I admire people who have such a talent for leadership.
