In the movie, during one of the Scare Games, there are these pink glowing urchins that are warned against touching. Almost immediately once the race has begun, several characters touch, and or are flat out hit with these things. The urchins cause an allergic swelling to the location they've touched. This results in legs, arms, heads, lips, backs, and even full body swellings.
