Ohaha.. actually it's much more of a problem to make something in vectors that does NOT look smooth (at least if you're want to avoid using bitmap elements like textures and such). If you're interested you should check out Inkscape to get a rough idea of how vector graphics work. It's free and I might be able to help you out and give advice if necessary :)
