I suppose it shouldn't be surprising how many Ruralite articles that I illustrated were about pets... In this item I recall some old hound dog that chased trucks. I guess it must have caught this one. For a change I decided to illustrate it in a different style. Instead of clean black and whites, I chose to crosshatch the piece. It had the virtue of discretely drapping parts of anatomy that can't be shown in a family magazine. For another, it enabled me to increase the sense of character in the tired old hound dog.
