The tentacles are hollow, and very dexterous. They could be used to please a physical body in many ways, or used to siphon up the soul's energy like little vacuums. Also, they have the ability to sort of 'regurgitate' partially digested souls, which due to the high energy content, can dissolve most tissue in seconds, so they can sort of be used as a replacement for normal stomach acid pumps.
