Really, it's just a point of society I've long found somewhere between 'amusing' and 'it'd be amusing if it wasn't so pitiable', the never-ending argumentative foibles of "life is sacred" and the real math- and dollar values- involved in our world... Food for thought, eh wot?

I honestly do think it's a load of crap...But at the same time, I'm not that educated in the processes required. I would think it's easier to abort than it would be to perform a boob job...Wouldn't it? I mean like...How much risk is involved, the process, after-effects...^^; Again, not savvy, but that's the only reason I think it would be more, 'if' that were the case.

But honestly, mostly, my concern on this was just the interesting fact of value. I don't really care one way or the other what someone's position on abortion is. But it's just interesting to me... *smiles* big word, that, that to perform a "elective" "cosmetic" surgery would require so much greater capital investment and approval from both an accredited psychologist and physician, but ending the existence of a developing fetus, an act many women attest scarred them emotionally or physically for life... *laughs* hell, I could pay for three of those with one paycheck, no approval needed.

oh no, thats just to get breasts done, thats not the gender operation... in the states thats closer to 40k then 4k and requires 2 doc notes, 1-3 years living as your proper (chosen is how they put it) gender, depending on the doctors, plus a ton of other chit including "counseling"... you know, to be sure that the doctor knows what all this involves... though they claim its for you... we all know the truth here

Purely from a financial point of view an abortion is a much less involved procedure, it requires less work to be done, less aftercare, less of a risk of things going wrong and it is simply done more often. This will work out to a market equilibrium that is much higher for a boobjob. And in the surgeon's, anestheticians and the other doctor's defense it takes them a good ten years of hard study to get into their 'cushy' job and they are constantly at risk of malpractice lawsuits.
As for the requirements for it, getting it done by a private institution with your own money should be considered like any other elective surgery and shouldn't have any specific requirements outside of what a surgery like it would. Of course, a line is crossed when you start working with government money and support, it is quite reasonable for them to then start setting requirements for their support in order to avoid people leeching off programs that don't apply to them.
As for the requirements for it, getting it done by a private institution with your own money should be considered like any other elective surgery and shouldn't have any specific requirements outside of what a surgery like it would. Of course, a line is crossed when you start working with government money and support, it is quite reasonable for them to then start setting requirements for their support in order to avoid people leeching off programs that don't apply to them.
Point one, is very true. *nods* I hardly begrudge doctors for the cost of their services as I know just malpractice insurance alone is beyond ridiculous. Miz MacGilliguddy gets a headache from her ankle brace and ol' doc Smithers is shelling out a fat roll.

Having a 34'' Bcup size hasn't caused me any health conditions or endangered my life in the slightest. I like having my breasts. *jiggles* They're fun, natural and didn't cost me a damned thing. And making them bigger would just be a choice, true. Much like getting a tattoo of "I Ate Your Mum's Butt" on my face is also an "elective" procedure and I could get one of those for $50 that would easily cost me my current job and many career prospects afterwards. Having to have a doctor's okay for a breast surgery is a call-back to a bygone day of patriarchal nonsense and pseudo-religious superstitious bullshit. *huffs* Sorry. The poor things are dealing with enough already. However, as stated above... that's a pretty serious thing, an abortion. Although it's a simpler operation than breast augmentation, it's also likely to scar the dear for all her life. If you've got a friend, in her 30's maybe, who's had to make that choice, she'll likely tell ya how often it eats at her, what could've been and all that. Pretty deep stuff, hard stuff to deal with. "There but for the grace of god go I" and all that rot. Individual spiritual or religious ramifications completely notwithstanding- She's ended the potential for a life growing in her body.

I am pleased that I do not have to make either decision. I will not have children, and thankfully, I was born with the correct parts to fit my true gender. So I really cannot say "I know how you feel" Because I dont, literally, I cant.

In my opinion, there are two ways it could go: [1] (the worst case scenario) we could hit the technological singularity hard, in which case uploading would develop at the same time we become a post-scarcity society. Money becomes essentially valueless overnight. We trade a large number of problems for all new ones due to our social adolescence; [2] instead of uploading right away, we experience a number of incremental and chained improvements to longevity, anti-senescence, gene-therapies, and general medicine. While the wealthy gain uploading first, the outdated and cheaper treatments allow the less affluent to survive long enough for uploading to become affordable.
I would agree, milady. Such a thing would be grand, but sadly, I don't see such a thing occurring. Barring a miraculous leap in social progression, I'm afraid the superstitions and hatreds of our collective species past will continue to stymie our progress towards such a beautiful concept until you and I are little more than memories skipping on the wind.
It costs 243,660 to raise a child from the age of 0-18 as released by the Canadian revenue agency that 13 536.33 (repeating of course) per year basically buying a new car each and every year. Really gets you thinking... and after a cursory glance... at the cost to become a women.. looks like possible ... 45 000... to 80 000 plus other things attached too which is actually more expensive as you are a single income person with no additional help at all they make it as difficult as possible... i can kinda understand their point of view they want you to be sure, but i am also more certain they are there to be Obtuse. Its fucking hard just being human i mean shit you spend 20+ years just TRYING to figure your self out and who you really are and THAT ALONE SHOULD SAY SOMETHING. No one when they look in the mirror is ever truly comfortable in their own skin... personally i've always viewed people who work to become what they want to be with admiration lord knows i wish i could, but that ship sailed after great injury. La, ignorance, anger, and a the inability to admit our true wrongs against one another and some of our collective hatred of knowledge will always hold this race back, on the up shot we are a race that has master the diversionary arts so while things might be shitty you may not notice it

It's always been so odd to me. Transgenderism, true Transgenderism, is a scientifically identifiable condition. I always knew what I was in that respect,going back to age 7, even if I didn't learn of my partial hermaphrodism until later. But again, this is something which can be proven, so why is it so goddamn complicated for many to wrap their heads around? *shrugs* I dunno.... It is an age old question, why do we hate? Why do we morally think we are superior? Why do we look down our noses at others for their quirks? At the end of the day we have to accept that collectively... we are narrow minded, xenophobic, and unwilling to bend to change and new ideas about society people and even science.
This is why I believe in the individual, individually we are capable of amazing feats that boggle the mind think of the technological singularity between our grand parent's time and now, cell phone individual computers, the internal combustion engine over taking horses! From the first air plane to jet fighters that kiss space and a man who jumps from space breaks the sound barrier and lands safely on earth once more. As a collective we suck as individuals we are amazing and soon.. one day maybe we will all collectively be a tolerant and wise society where only individuals are the idiots. One day maybe, until then we will all need to grumble and stare at the people around us who beat and whip us into what ever their "perfect" world should be and tolerate the symphony of ignorance together.
As for the life is sacred things.. it is quite the personal issue i can see why people get so very very upset about it, but i don't think new tits should be THAT expensive... unless you are getting beachballs installed... in which case two part question 1: can i watch / look at them 2: may i have a picture to draw into a cave wall to freak the hell out of the archaeologists of the future!

Its just those in the position to change things are either profiting from the way it is or are the problem that goes with it, those people trying to protect you from being anything outside of the status quo. It makes things double sad when you told me that story of the guy who got implants as simply part of a contest. He didn't need them or want to keep them for life. He was just doing it to win a contest.
So I really can't see where anyone would actually come from to defend the current position of the situation. Maybe going through a single shrink for an SRS is a good idea seeing how major it is, but not several doctors for what would probably be weeks if not months of repeated appointments. They can't defend needing the doctor's notes, maybe the cost though comes from the implants as I don't know what material(s) it is and how much they actually cost, so yeah.
I feel that this protect you from yourself thing is only a protect the doctor from lawsuits thing. As even a lawsuit a doctor wins can shoot his business completely to shit. However a simple boob job should be easy to go about even from that standpoint as its something rather easily reverse-able, I'd think. I agree, love. Here in stateside, there's currently so much furor over a "socialized" health care system, who's paying for it, what it's for, what it's doing... it's bizarre.
Our last president wanted to amend the constitution to deny same-sex couples marriage rights federally, and many still support that notion, but these good decent people don't care for any kind of amendment that ensures the sick or dying get health care even if they haven't a damned dime to their name...
Our last president wanted to amend the constitution to deny same-sex couples marriage rights federally, and many still support that notion, but these good decent people don't care for any kind of amendment that ensures the sick or dying get health care even if they haven't a damned dime to their name...
