No Ponies Required- For Your Consideration 3
You know... *snofts* I can already imagine the number of people who really just don't "get" the things I say and do in artwork being incredibly irate at seeing this, thinking I'm making some manner of statement on abortion rights or somesuch... *sighs*
Really, it's just a point of society I've long found somewhere between 'amusing' and 'it'd be amusing if it wasn't so pitiable', the never-ending argumentative foibles of "life is sacred" and the real math- and dollar values- involved in our world... Food for thought, eh wot?

I honestly do think it's a load of crap...But at the same time, I'm not that educated in the processes required. I would think it's easier to abort than it would be to perform a boob job...Wouldn't it? I mean like...How much risk is involved, the process, after-effects...^^; Again, not savvy, but that's the only reason I think it would be more, 'if' that were the case.
True, true, and that may well be possible. *shrugs* Not a doctor, myself, though I do own a lab-coat and some of the same toys. *laughs*
But honestly, mostly, my concern on this was just the interesting fact of value. I don't really care one way or the other what someone's position on abortion is. But it's just interesting to me... *smiles* big word, that, that to perform a "elective" "cosmetic" surgery would require so much greater capital investment and approval from both an accredited psychologist and physician, but ending the existence of a developing fetus, an act many women attest scarred them emotionally or physically for life... *laughs* hell, I could pay for three of those with one paycheck, no approval needed.

oh no, thats just to get breasts done, thats not the gender operation... in the states thats closer to 40k then 4k and requires 2 doc notes, 1-3 years living as your proper (chosen is how they put it) gender, depending on the doctors, plus a ton of other chit including "counseling"... you know, to be sure that the doctor knows what all this involves... though they claim its for you... we all know the truth here
Indeed. *head tilts* And odd, isn't it?
Any legal adult could go out, right now and get a tattoo of "Fuck You!" on their forehead, an act which would likely reduce their job options to zero and definitely alter their place in their social circle, but a breast operation... *shakes her finger* Ooooh no, none of that stuff around here, you wacky whippersnappers!
*shrugs*

...'tis pretty damned ridiculous isn't it? -by comparison, that is.
This is the point I was making most folkes seem to be missing. Not that that's a bad thing. If anything, I'm glad that people have their own take on things and express their views constructively without malice or cruelty of spirit. I know, this is coming from the person who draws "My Little Prinny", but I don't shove my work or opinions on anyone's page but my own...
But I digress... As Uber put it, for the low low cost of 13 and 1/3 dead babies, you too can have bigger breasts, gals! So get out there and getcha them fetusses... feetussi... fetii? ... anypoop...

Purely from a financial point of view an abortion is a much less involved procedure, it requires less work to be done, less aftercare, less of a risk of things going wrong and it is simply done more often. This will work out to a market equilibrium that is much higher for a boobjob. And in the surgeon's, anestheticians and the other doctor's defense it takes them a good ten years of hard study to get into their 'cushy' job and they are constantly at risk of malpractice lawsuits.
As for the requirements for it, getting it done by a private institution with your own money should be considered like any other elective surgery and shouldn't have any specific requirements outside of what a surgery like it would. Of course, a line is crossed when you start working with government money and support, it is quite reasonable for them to then start setting requirements for their support in order to avoid people leeching off programs that don't apply to them.

Point one, is very true. *nods* I hardly begrudge doctors for the cost of their services as I know just malpractice insurance alone is beyond ridiculous. Miz MacGilliguddy gets a headache from her ankle brace and ol' doc Smithers is shelling out a fat roll.
However, on the rest... *shrugs* I would agree, but defining "elective" is part of the problem. I'm definitely willing to agree that breast enlargement is elective. Having a 34'' Bcup size hasn't caused me any health conditions or endangered my life in the slightest. I like having my breasts. *jiggles* They're fun, natural and didn't cost me a damned thing. And making them bigger would just be a choice, true. Much like getting a tattoo of "I Ate Your Mum's Butt" on my face is also an "elective" procedure and I could get one of those for $50 that would easily cost me my current job and many career prospects afterwards. Having to have a doctor's okay for a breast surgery is a call-back to a bygone day of patriarchal nonsense and pseudo-religious superstitious bullshit. *huffs* Sorry. I agree with you, I really like how you worded that as well.
But that's not really the point of this. Many women get abortions, which is entirely their business and nobody should give them guff on it(outside of footing the bill for it themselves). The poor things are dealing with enough already. However, as stated above... that's a pretty serious thing, an abortion. Although it's a simpler operation than breast augmentation, it's also likely to scar the dear for all her life. If you've got a friend, in her 30's maybe, who's had to make that choice, she'll likely tell ya how often it eats at her, what could've been and all that. Pretty deep stuff, hard stuff to deal with. "There but for the grace of god go I" and all that rot. Individual spiritual or religious ramifications completely notwithstanding- She's ended the potential for a life growing in her body.
And it only cost her $300. *smirks* Life is sacred, my ass.

I am pleased that I do not have to make either decision. I will not have children, and thankfully, I was born with the correct parts to fit my true gender. So I really cannot say "I know how you feel" Because I dont, literally, I cant.
My ability to sympathise only goes so far. As a man who grew up an emotional cripple, due to my horrid childhood, the best I can offer is, I am with you. For whatever that is worth.
The docs will say that transgender surgeries are elective, you dont need them to survive, but again, that comes from someone, who, like myself has no way to place themself in your situation. We can only hope that public perception will turn, in time, and that soon the costs involved drop. For your benefit, I hope this is sooner rather than later.
Until then, I say, try to remain as positive as you can. While things are far less than ideal, allowing a situation to defeat you robs you of any of the little pleasure and joys life offers mixed in with all of the crap. I think you probbly have that strength. I am with you.

In my opinion, there are two ways it could go: [1] (the worst case scenario) we could hit the technological singularity hard, in which case uploading would develop at the same time we become a post-scarcity society. Money becomes essentially valueless overnight. We trade a large number of problems for all new ones due to our social adolescence; [2] instead of uploading right away, we experience a number of incremental and chained improvements to longevity, anti-senescence, gene-therapies, and general medicine. While the wealthy gain uploading first, the outdated and cheaper treatments allow the less affluent to survive long enough for uploading to become affordable.
I would agree, milady. Such a thing would be grand, but sadly, I don't see such a thing occurring. Barring a miraculous leap in social progression, I'm afraid the superstitions and hatreds of our collective species past will continue to stymie our progress towards such a beautiful concept until you and I are little more than memories skipping on the wind.
It costs 243,660 to raise a child from the age of 0-18 as released by the Canadian revenue agency that 13 536.33 (repeating of course) per year basically buying a new car each and every year. Really gets you thinking... and after a cursory glance... at the cost to become a women.. looks like possible ... 45 000... to 80 000 plus other things attached too which is actually more expensive as you are a single income person with no additional help at all they make it as difficult as possible... i can kinda understand their point of view they want you to be sure, but i am also more certain they are there to be Obtuse. Its fucking hard just being human i mean shit you spend 20+ years just TRYING to figure your self out and who you really are and THAT ALONE SHOULD SAY SOMETHING. No one when they look in the mirror is ever truly comfortable in their own skin... personally i've always viewed people who work to become what they want to be with admiration lord knows i wish i could, but that ship sailed after great injury. La, ignorance, anger, and a the inability to admit our true wrongs against one another and some of our collective hatred of knowledge will always hold this race back, on the up shot we are a race that has master the diversionary arts so while things might be shitty you may not notice it
As always, love, you state things so very well and oft with some passion.
*smiles* La Pacion!
Baddawho, that is true, and it definitely bothers the hell out of me, the cost of an SRS is astounding, let alone the HRT leading up to it, the "suggested" counseling costs... It's always been so odd to me. Transgenderism, true Transgenderism, is a scientifically identifiable condition. I always knew what I was in that respect, going back to age 7, even if I didn't learn of my partial hermaphrodism until later. But again, this is something which can be proven, so why is it so goddamn complicated for many to wrap their heads around? *shrugs* I dunno.... One of those things I'm just not supposed to "get" I guess.
But really, the simple thing of this which eats at me is just how odd it is. If "lif is (so goddamned) sacred" why is an abortion $300 and new boobs are $4000? *laughs*
Though on a side note, I like mine just fine the size they are. *squishes* No back pain, bras are still cute. Life, she is good. Yay.

It is an age old question, why do we hate? Why do we morally think we are superior? Why do we look down our noses at others for their quirks? At the end of the day we have to accept that collectively... we are narrow minded, xenophobic, and unwilling to bend to change and new ideas about society people and even science.
This is why I believe in the individual, individually we are capable of amazing feats that boggle the mind think of the technological singularity between our grand parent's time and now, cell phone individual computers, the internal combustion engine over taking horses! From the first air plane to jet fighters that kiss space and a man who jumps from space breaks the sound barrier and lands safely on earth once more. As a collective we suck as individuals we are amazing and soon.. one day maybe we will all collectively be a tolerant and wise society where only individuals are the idiots. One day maybe, until then we will all need to grumble and stare at the people around us who beat and whip us into what ever their "perfect" world should be and tolerate the symphony of ignorance together.
As for the life is sacred things.. it is quite the personal issue i can see why people get so very very upset about it, but i don't think new tits should be THAT expensive... unless you are getting beachballs installed... in which case two part question 1: can i watch / look at them 2: may i have a picture to draw into a cave wall to freak the hell out of the archaeologists of the future!
As your own titties go, they can be how ever you like them dear Ashley so long as they are yours and you enjoy them. *nod nod*
Oh on a side side note, When you speak it should always be with the passion of the soul the dedication of the heart and the power of your whole body.

I think you may be one of the few who "got" what was actually so funny and sad to me about the whole issue, disturbing as it is on so many other fronts.
Abortion rights debate notwithstanding, *snofts* not the issue, but just the bizarre fact that a grown legal adult, taxpayer, voter, tippidy-doo, getting a boob job, an "elective" procedure... "elective"... you know, like a tattoo or getting a mole removed, something like that.... that is over ten times more expensive AND requires written authorization by a prescribing physician and a psychiatrist than an abortion. Girl goes out, gets knocked up, gets that lil' bugger sucked out, potentially scarring herself and others emotionally and physically for the remainder of their lives, no documentation required. Woo-hoo!
*laughs* Now them's some good ol' amerikan values!

You live with me, so I know you get to take part first-hand in the ramblings of my head, but still...
Jeezus...
"Life is sacred"... Just keep repeating it, conservatives, maybe it'll be true someday.
Things like this are just so goddamned frustrating. I like my bewbs, I do. But just knowing that to alter them would require so much, two doctors' approval to supposedly protect from myself... or something... and Four-fucking-grand? ....whereas by comparison a full-color tattoo of the virgin mary taking it up the pooper from an antelope would be about $175, no matter where I want to put it, and that sucker wouldn't require any kind of note or anything. I'm completely free to fuck myself out of life opportunities with that one.
Again... how can I be the only person that notices this bullshit?

I'm very happy that I live with you.
Your not the only one that notices this bullshit. Its just those in the position to change things are either profiting from the way it is or are the problem that goes with it, those people trying to protect you from being anything outside of the status quo. It makes things double sad when you told me that story of the guy who got implants as simply part of a contest. He didn't need them or want to keep them for life. He was just doing it to win a contest.
So I really can't see where anyone would actually come from to defend the current position of the situation. Maybe going through a single shrink for an SRS is a good idea seeing how major it is, but not several doctors for what would probably be weeks if not months of repeated appointments. They can't defend needing the doctor's notes, maybe the cost though comes from the implants as I don't know what material(s) it is and how much they actually cost, so yeah.
I feel that this protect you from yourself thing is only a protect the doctor from lawsuits thing. As even a lawsuit a doctor wins can shoot his business completely to shit. However a simple boob job should be easy to go about even from that standpoint as its something rather easily reverse-able, I'd think. I'm sorry that this sort of thing can go about in our world where people put walls, laws, and even full institutions in they way of their fellow man simply because to do otherwise and allow them to be free would make them uncomfortable. To do that sort of thing is evil and stifles life and love.
By the way, I like your boobs too.

Ah yes... *grumbles* The Maxim contest... whwerein the fellow won 100K for getting breast implants... And yet it's not legal for a TG to do so... *sighs* Swell, laws there, amerika.
Unfortunately, for most TGs it ends up being years of appointments with a head-shrink for gaining the approval to get the operation many of them kind of knew they wanted as far back as they could remember. It's always been such an oddity to me, how our civilized society places such a phenominally restrictive double-standard on such a thing. I'd think starting a drinking habit could be much more destructive to my professional and private life. The numbers seem to support that theory, but silly me *laughs* What do I know?
*squishes her bosom* I like 'em too, but you know all the rest... yadda yadda bim bam boom... The simple facts of the matter piss me off, as I'd hope they would any sensible person would react seeing such a uneven handling of the law and freedoms of other grown adults.

A drinking habit could very easily be more destructive to you and others as well. In comparison I don't see how having bigger boobs could hurt anyone else. I'd imagine your right too, that the precentage of people who are drunkards who damage their lives or those around them is much smaller then TGs who have done the same thing.
I wonder how many therapists specialize in TGs and actually respect them. I don't think there are very many sadly. As since that they are really only there to help you find out what you feel, it would seem from what you say though most don't take that position. They try to tell you how you feel instead of asking you.
I'm sorry again that this sort of thing can happen to anyone my love and I'm here to walk with you through it. We can take my hovercraft, I borrowed it from the good doctor tators.

Well... *smiles* Thank you for the boob-compliments, loverpuppers.
It's all just so frustrating. To know that I could do any number of things, from getting shit-faced and driving a car to being a fifteen-year-old unwed mother and these are all outside the laws' realm of control, happening daily... oh, but gods forbid some poor TGirl wants to upsize her boobs. THAT is something we need to make sure is tightly controlled... My gods, bigger boobs on a non-naturally-occurring female?! Holy shit, somebody notify Chuck Norris , Jesus and John McCain!
Fucking bastards...

Its infuriating to me as well love. When they told as those limits I was taken aback. I wanted to say something but I was keeping myself quiet for some reason. However I remember I'd promised you. I really just want to go and shake them until they just give this to you. There isn't any reason why should say no but they do. Keep it classy 'murica!
Sorry, been working my way through my jacked comments list, stern to stem... ugh.
Thank you love, I do agree... *smiles softly* completely... charmer.
Though I'm fine with my girls, the knowledge of these two facts was ...well, appalling to me. "Life is Sacred" my sweet little ass...

Life is sacred rings hollow in any nation that does not have the luxury of a National health service.
particularly those who are against abortion yelling life is sacred, then are against an nhs. thats not saying lifes sacred, thats quibbling over when its cool for a person to die, unmourned and uncared for.

I agree, love. Here in stateside, there's currently so much furor over a "socialized" health care system, who's paying for it, what it's for, what it's doing... it's bizarre.
Our last president wanted to amend the constitution to deny same-sex couples marriage rights federally, and many still support that notion, but these good decent people don't care for any kind of amendment that ensures the sick or dying get health care even if they haven't a damned dime to their name...

Plastic surgeons are no better than cheapass mechanics. I mean, c'mon, ya hit mah car with hammer, paint it hammerite™ with brush, then polish it with circular saw and it looks fine... but what the hell of this procedure worth $300/a panel?
And i like how they claim "steril materials usage" for extra credit. This bloody boneframe is the same steel they use to make kitchen furniture! And how on the earth come whole set of pots costs about a somethin-somethin.95 , but little piece that holds your spine inplace over thousandmillion goodones, multiplied on spacecraft procedure costs?
