My fourth commission for "Ric-M" on deviantART.
This time around, Rick wanted some demons to the slew of supernatural beasties I've designed for him, so we went with a Nāginī (a snake-like entity from Hindu mythology) and a Deer Woman (a malevolent spirit from Native American folklore who seduces men, then stomps them to death when they discover her deer legs).
The Nāginī was a bit of a challenge, seeing as how there are different visual interpretations, so I went with a Centaur-based one (upper human body/lower snake body). I also looked at Indian women's clothing/accessories and the late-but-great Ray Harryhausen's take on snake-women for ideas.
My take on the Deer Woman is more like a deer and not as dark as the traditional one, very skittish and docile. Maybe she's a reluctant/friendly Deer Woman who wants to put an end to her kind's bad reputation (I dunno).
