From the desolation of the tower, amidst the rubble, the fool rises. Her sadness is so deep that it covers her like the remains of the tower. She sits atop it, dusting off the dirt and grime, but the immense pain of loss does not come off with it. Tears well in her eyes as she sees the destruction wrought from her life. But just as they start to fall, she hears the sound of singing, a voice so beautiful that it starts to heal her, to bring her to her feet. She follows the voice, wiping the tears from her eyes.
She comes to a clearing, finding a woman with two urns, full of the clearest, purest water, the starlight dancing across its reflection. The woman's song slows to a close as she catches sight of the fool. She opens her grey eyes, sparkling with some inner light.
"You have lost much, you have felt the pain of that loss. Come, drink some water, it will make you feel better."
The fool sips from the starry urn, and indeed she does feel better. As she hands the vessel back, the woman starts to pour her other urn into a dried pool.
"Why do you pour out the water?" The fool inquires.
"I have one urn for thirsty travelers such as yourself, and one urn I am using to feed the earth, to heal it and bring life back to this area." Then she regards the fool with her silver, sparkling eyes. "I know why you lament, I know how you feel, but you must remember that you have not lost everything, you have not lost those things most important. You have knowledge, experience, memory...keep these things and you may regain what you have lost, and like a star, let them guide you into the future..."
With that the fool departs, but as she walked away the voice of the maiden rang clear in her ears.
"Follow your star."
Healing and guidance, renewal and growth, vision and insight.
The water was very difficult to do and I'm not really happy with it, but I can't seem to get it to look right, so I'll settle with that as it's not that bad, actually. The background turned out really well and I really loved the way her outfit turned out. This was the second time I had to sketch this one, but it turned out so much better this time. Only 8 more to go.
