Real danger is not something encountered very often by Azuri’s, despite the fact that they fight so often. Getting shot at and assaulted by power armour equipped Orion storm flanks didn’t really represent much of threat due to the fact that Azuri’s are practically indestructible anyway. Bullets rarely did anything more than bounce off skin and any wounds caused could be healed in a matter of hours. But this? Kaj couldn’t help but feel somewhat nervous. They didn’t have translocator modules, so nothing would save them if they happened to fall. Falling meant death. Hell, Azuri’s can survive falls of thousands of meters, the larger Azuri’s can orbital drop naked! Providing there is something to land on. But here, there was no land, nothing to impact. Asphyxiation over many hours would led to death. The thought was trembling her to say the least. Maybe it wouldn’t be so much, if Val hadn’t of insisted on jumping off the side of the ship, holding on with nothing but a singular chain, which she attached to her beloved harpoon with the intent of grappling onto enemy ships and boarding them. Why on earth Val decided that Kaj was a good partner for this, she didn’t know. Perhaps her experience in working on ship externals gave Val the impression she was cut out for this.
Clinging onto the chain for dear life, surging through the air backwards, propelled by the detonation of a ship they just took out, Kaj was beyond words as Val laughed and spotted a new ship to spear onto. They weren’t even allowed to compete in Death Vector, Azuri’s are banned from all competitive sports. I mean why would you allow biological super soldiers to compete in anything? Of course they’d win. But Val managed to convince everyone that sneaking into this bloody thing by faking the fitness tests would be great fun. Being mini Azuri’s, they can actually just pass off as being ordinary but very busty women, providing they don’t show their true strength. As much as it hurt Val’s pride to pretend she couldn’t lift 200kg above her head, when ordinarily, 5 ton jeeps provide no challenge.
The thundering roar of cannons echoed continuously, huge walls of missiles blazing past at blisteringly high speeds, the static in the air from the tesla cannons and anti-boarding coils. The screams of unlucky crew members, hurled off ships to their deaths below were barely audible over the thunderous bellowing of barrages and explosions, the creaking and screeches of fatiguing metal hulls and structures that soon fell apart and dropped directly off the battle field and into the nothingness below of Vector II’s death zone. The whole thing being filmed and broadcasted for the biggest combat tournament in the whole universe. Trillions watching every fight, battle and death, cheering on their favourite teams in this mammoth death arena.
Soaring through the fire bleached skies, rippling shockwaves of distance explosions rumbling through every second, dangling only from a single chain by a single hand, Kaj’s grip had never been so firm. Her arc crystal crossbow was aimed at an overhead ship miles in the distance, hanging up in the “fire zone” where by the air is so saturated with oxygen, that a single spark in the wrong place and cause disaster for the team…
*Thunk*
She wanted intently as the slither of a bolt, frail in comparison the missles and cannons otherwise filling the air, made its way to the target. Its orange tracer glow visible against the dark blue spectrum of the surrounding storm clouds. A wicked smile curling over her lips as she saw the effect her weapon had. The ship exploding into a massive orange fireball, its shockblast throwing every other ship in the area off course, rupturing balloons and hulls, blasting out all the surrounding clouds to nothing and even knocking a few people off balance and off their ships. Maybe Val was right, this wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

Outed writing. It wouldn't anymore. They also wouldn't be able to sneak into DV anymore either, but DV is allowing mini Azuri's to participate under strict rules. Mainly that they wear hit detection armour that disqualifies them from the round if its shot enough (seeing as the bullets rarely hurt them), they are also disqualified if they fall out of the zone, with an agreement in place that they will be recovered from the core of the giant rather than remain there.
