Years ago, mail used to be carried in trains, it still is, but the method is sligly different. In days gone by in Britain mail catch apparatuses were set up at the side of the track, the train would pick up the mail bags at speed without stopping. This video demonstrates the method used, the loco used in the film is an LMS Black 5.
