To the people who follow me for my scalie stuff: I promise I haven't turned to the dark side! I love kitties as much as I love dragons 'n herps 'n sharkies. Can't we all be friends? :3
This is intended to be a toony housecat. Carving heads out of foam is more difficult to start than I thought, but is getting easier as I go along. I want this suit to be somewhat the opposite of my Mirepoix suit: Goofy, squishy, fluffy and something I can romp around in, rather than something I am more of a model in. (You can see Mirepoix in the background there!) My biggest inspirations are Matrices and JillCostumes. Their costumes are simple and elegant in their design and very cute in their expressions. I didn't want a moving jaw; I just wanted something I can throw on my head and be comfortable in. No extra bits to worry about, ya know?
Constructive criticism encouraged! I want to improve. This is the first time I've done this, so any help is welcome.

I don't know maybe it's just me but I feel like cats have a shorter / shallower muzzle. I don't know if it's because of the toony style that you are exaggerating it or not but that's just my too cents. If you want to maybe figure out aspect ratios save this picture & then enlarge a reference of your cat character the same size & make one layer transparent so you can do a red line sort of thing with it. If you need my help just shoot me a note or something. Sorry once again if this the way the character was intended. I am unfamiliar with it & am just comparing it to my mental image of a cat.
Regardless the face is taking great shape & looks super expressive already.

I don't have a specific character design plotted out, I'm just going generic mutt American shorthair sort of house cat. I see what you're sayin' about the size of the muzzle... I was just wondering if it was too big. I'll bring my kitties into my studio and compare them, and I'm opening photoshop right now. Thanks for the input!
