Very nice :) are you making the sword from scratch or is it like a kit sword or something of the likes?

A friend of mine got hold of the blade for me a few days ago. I don't know where from and I'm not about to ask. From what I could make out of the makers marks, it appears to be forged in China. not very old by the feel of it; only a few years, a decade at most.
He got me a saya which fits perfedctly (which is why there's a tiiiiny bit of decoration around the kurikata that doesn't' match the rest but i with the sageo tied you can't really see it) amd the tsuka that fit which I stripped it down to the wood and re wrapped it with Ray-sking and leather.
It's a bit from all over the place :)

Damascus steel? Nice choice and not a bad etching on it either.

Oh very nice stuff :D I like the etching and the gold leaf adds a nice finish to it.

yeah, I really like how it came out :D The gilding makes teh lines catch the light better so they stand out from teh swirls of the Damascus steel without being too over powering :D
