In response to the original post (I didn't even know the guy beforehand until that post directed me to his Wikifur article): Oh, you Americans and your concerns regarding a few hundred tax dollars!

I can't see the bad thing with what he did with donations given to him either, unless he was claiming that he would draw stuff by himself for the money. Donations are usually to support artists, and it seems that's what he did. Okay, maybe the donators didn't know or appreciate which particular artists the money would go to, but that's not enough reason to ban anyone for multiple lifetimes.

After all, donations are nothing but giving away money for free, especially on FA without the recipient promising anything in return usually, and often even without the recipient specifically calling out for them other than giving people the option to. With a setting like that, people could use the donations they receive for coke and hookers and I wouldn't care for as long as they're not promising to use the money for something else beforehand.

Okay, so if people here seem to think it's somehow evil to spend donations on other artists (a mindset which I just don't get), then maybe he shoulda told people beforehand that that's his intention. But still, even if he didn't it's not a bannable offense by far, if you ask me.

He told people that he needed the money, for food and rent.

And lying about his mothering being shot and all. Kind of a big deal.

Then Wikifur should state so about his lying. That is indeed a bad thing.

While your point is valid, I'm sure they banned him because he did not use the money for its intended purpose. Nobody donates just to see their money being used for the wrong thing.
