Have you ever read DiveQuest, or it's counterpart Knight blades, both of which run in the same timeset and universe? They're both very good. I personally favor DiveQuest for it's hilarity, and the fact that the main character is trying so hard to be evil (and...not doing too well at it), though Knight Blades has better artwork for the most part.

I highly recommend both. It's a lot of fun to see the character's reactions to some of the suggestions made, like when Muschio of Divequest got frustrated with people continually telling him to wear things as a hat and he ended up piling pretty much everything within reach on his head and snapping about it until one of his subordinates came in and saw him and was like; O.o "Wtf." Then he was all embarrassed. XD
